Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated that parliamentarians are not elected to confront the Executive but to support policies for national development.
Akpabio made the remarks in an upcoming documentary marking two years of the Bola Tinubu administration.
He said, “When elected to the National Assembly, whether Senate or House of Representatives, constituents do not expect confrontation. It is not a boxing match. The role is to work across party lines for Nigeria’s interest.”
He added that the relationship between the legislative and executive branches has been cordial during the past two years due to a shared vision for the country.
He asked, “If all energy is spent opposing the Executive, who will work for Nigeria?”
