Labour Party (LP) National Chairman, Julius Abure, has clarified that activist Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo were responsible for managing the party’s 2023 campaign funds, contrary to speculations of mismanagement involving the party.
Speaking during a press conference after the National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, Abure emphasized that the LP was not directly involved in handling or distributing the campaign resources.
“The party’s main focus was on producing a president, not on the management of campaign funds. We entrusted the resources to Aisha Yesufu and Pastor Itua Ighodalo, who were the signatories for the campaign accounts,” Abure stated.
He further explained that all donations and funds collected for the campaign were channelled through accounts specifically opened for that purpose, and the payments to polling unit agents were also handled by the duo.
This clarification comes after widespread claims that the party mismanaged campaign resources during the 2023 elections.
