Super Falcons and Barcelona Ladies striker, Asisat Oshoala, has expressed disagreement with Manchester City legend Yaya Toure’s recent forecast for Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Set to compete in Group A at the 2023 AFCON in January alongside the host nation Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria faces Toure’s prediction that Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau will surpass the group stage and progress to the knockout stage of the competition.
In an interview with Brila FM, Oshoala dismissed Toure’s prediction, asserting that Nigeria possesses players like Victor Osimhen and Victor Boniface, who have the potential to lead the team to success in the tournament.
“Talk is cheap. When we get to the tournament, we will separate the boys from the men,” Oshoala emphasized. “Why not? We have the almighty Osimhen, the best player in Africa; we have Boniface excelling at the club level. I believe we have a strong team; it’s not just about individual talent.”
