Almighty God, I bring the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before You. This once-promising party, now mired in disgrace, has stumbled far from its original purpose. Lord, while its missteps have been many, I implore You to spare it from the fates of Jonah and Judas. Though forsaken by Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan, who it once lifted to power, I believe the PDP is not beyond redemption.
Our ancestors remind us that even tattered baskets hold value in times of need. Therefore, I come not to abandon the PDP but to plead for its restoration. Lord, You are the all-powerful One. You can rekindle the hope that once resided in this party.
Father, my tears are dry, but my heart is heavy. The PDP was built by visionaries like Ekwueme and Ciroma as a house of promise, rich with talent. But it has become a shadow of its former self, a prodigal son unwilling to return home. Instead, it seems content to walk in servitude, abandoning its dignity. Lord, let it not be said that the PDP was reduced to a mere pawn in the hands of its adversaries.
Nigeria, our beloved country, stands on the precipice of becoming a one-party state. A vibrant opposition is essential for democracy, yet the PDP now appears timid and directionless, a caricature of its past self. It must rise above its failings. Let it shed the chains of cowardice and show the boldness befitting its legacy.
Lord, the PDP’s sins are evident:
- Internal sabotage: It has allowed moles to hijack its purpose.
- Money worship: It embraced materialism over democratic ideals.
- Neglect of reform: It failed to adapt and address the changing needs of the people.
Yet, Father, Your grace can transform even the most fallen. Let the PDP exorcise its demons, cast out the opportunists, and embrace leaders of integrity who can inspire the youth and rebuild the party. This nation deserves a credible, visionary alternative to guide it out of despair.
Father, as the 2027 elections approach, let the PDP fight with courage, dignity, and strategy. If electoral reforms remain elusive, let it choose civil disobedience over complicity in a flawed process. But Lord, give it wisdom, for even protest requires discipline and purpose.
If the PDP cannot reform, Lord, raise another party to uphold the ideals of national unity and democracy. Let the enemies of progress in all political parties be scattered. Guide this nation, dear Lord, and watch over us as we navigate these turbulent times.
Amen.
