Ooni of Ife Marks 51st Birthday, Prays for Nigeria’s Peace and Unity
The Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi celebrated his 51st birthday on Friday with prayers for Nigeria’s peace progress and unity. Born on October 17/1974 and crowned the 51st Ooni of Ife in August 2015, Oba Ogunwusi expressed gratitude to God for life and strength to continue his service to humanity. In a statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Moses Olafare the monarch described his journey as one guided by divine purpose and a commitment to the welfare of the people. He emphasized that traditional institutions should continue to play active roles in promoting harmony and development across the nation and the African continent. Oba Ogunwusi noted that Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and natural resources and called for collective efforts from all citizens to build a peaceful and prosperous country. He urged traditional rulers and members of the Oduduwa House worldwide to work together and avoid divisions. On this occasion of my 51st birthday. I give thanks to Olodumare for His mercy and grace, I pray for peace in our nation, wisdom for our leaders, and prosperity for all members of the Oduduwa race across the world. Our diversity is our strength and together we can make Nigeria great the Ooni said. He also called for renewed dedication to African cultural values describing them as essential tools for unity and national rebirth. According to him culture when properly preserved and promoted can serve as a strong bond among people. Reaffirming his commitment to youth empowerment education and women’s inclusion in leadership Oba Ogunwusi said these areas remain vital for building a balanced and progressive society. The Ooni thanked sons and daughters of Oduduwa globally for their loyalty and contributions to preserving Yoruba heritage. He encouraged them to remain united in upholding peace love and respect for humanity.
