Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, has reaffirmed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to grassroots communities. Speaking at a media stakeholders’ forum in Ikeja, Omotosho emphasized the administration’s focus on impactful projects across local governments and council development areas in 2025.
Transforming Healthcare in Lagos
Omotosho highlighted the advanced progress of the New Massey Street Children’s Hospital, set to become the largest pediatric facility in West Africa, with commissioning planned for later this year.
Additionally, he pointed out other ambitious healthcare projects, including:
- A 280-bed General Hospital in Ojo.
- A Psychiatric Hospital in Ketu Ejinrin.
- Infrastructure upgrades at Ibeju-Lekki and Lagos General Hospitals.
“These projects are a testament to the Sanwo-Olu administration’s vision to enhance access to top-notch medical services, particularly at the grassroots,” Omotosho noted.
Empowering Entrepreneurs and Startups
The commissioner encouraged young entrepreneurs to leverage funding opportunities provided by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) and other state initiatives.
“Many startups have become stable and profitable through LSETF’s support. We urge more entrepreneurs to apply for loans and grants to grow their businesses,” he said.
Omotosho also reiterated the administration’s commitment to fostering economic growth by creating a favorable environment for businesses to thrive.
Revitalizing Tourism and Heritage
In line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, Lagos State aims to position itself as a competitive global destination through tourism and cultural rejuvenation. Omotosho revealed plans to:
- Restore the Elemoro Palace in Ibeju-Lekki.
- Preserve the Princess Erelu Kuti Tomb, commemorating one of Lagos’ iconic historical figures.
- Revitalize cultural, religious, and recreational infrastructure across the state.
“These initiatives will boost revenue, attract foreign exchange, and enrich Lagos’ cultural and historical legacy,” he added.
Sustaining Progress Through 2025
Omotosho assured Lagosians that ongoing projects would not be abandoned, promising sustained efforts to enhance community well-being and infrastructure development.
He also expressed gratitude to the media for their role in amplifying the administration’s achievements and called for continued collaboration:
“We value feedback from the media, as you are the bridge between the government and the people. Your insights help us address grassroots needs effectively.”
