Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted he is in the dark regarding Marcus Rashford’s future, as speculation swirls about the forward’s departure before the transfer window closes on February 3.
Rashford’s Ongoing Exile 🚪
The 27-year-old Rashford has not played for United since being dropped during their December derby victory against Manchester City. Following his omission, Rashford hinted at a “new challenge,” fueling rumors of a transfer.
The England international has been linked with major clubs, including AC Milan, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Chelsea, but remains sidelined. Rashford was seen training on Wednesday but opted to watch United’s 2-1 Europa League victory over Rangers from a private box.
Speaking about Rashford’s potential departure, Amorim said:
“I don’t know. I really don’t know. We will see at the end of the window what happens.”
Garnacho and Other Concerns ✈️
Amorim also refrained from commenting on the future of Alejandro Garnacho, who has reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea and Napoli. The Argentine winger played in the Rangers match, but Amorim avoided making any long-term assurances.
“Let’s see in the next few days,” he said.
A Struggling United 🛑
United’s poor form under Amorim has raised concerns, with the team managing only three wins in 11 Premier League games. The club’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton last weekend left them in 13th place, a position Amorim called “maybe the worst team in the club’s history.”
Amorim emphasized the need to foster stronger bonds with his players, saying:
“Pre-season, spending time together, and building trust — this is crucial. Without time, it’s difficult to create that connection.”
Onana vs. Bayindir: Goalkeeper Debate 🧤
Amorim hinted that Andre Onana could return in goal against Fulham this Sunday, following a costly mistake against Brighton. Altay Bayindir, who replaced Onana midweek, was part of a pre-planned rotation rather than a demotion.
“We have two great goalkeepers, and rotation is important,” Amorim explained.
